LizLiz is an acoustic folk and pop singer/songwriter originally from Woodstock, Connecticut. It is commonly believed that she has been singing since her days in the womb. She has been performing on stage since the age of seven and began writing songs at the age of ten, though her earliest works are conveniently lost in an attic somewhere

When not performing on stage, Liz is performing in the classroom. Her day job is as an elementary school music teacher. She graduated from the University of Connecticut in May of 2001 with a Masters Degree in music education and currently teaches kids to sing, dance and read music in New Haven.

Whether its in a coffeehouse, crowded bar, outdoor festival or concert stage, Lizs performance style is captivating. She writes songs that explore the anatomy of the soul and address current issues. Rooted in American folk music, Lizs compositional style has developed from the mellow, bittersweet love songs of her teenage years into mature and often haunting melodies that go straight to the heart of the listener. Her lyrics reflect the trials and joys of late-twenties soul-searching and speak the universal truths of having loved and lost. Lizs vibrant personality and angelic voice appeal to a range of audiences.

Instruments

Liz started piano lessons at age 7, and voice and guitar lessons at age 12. In college, she learned how to play the recorder, trombone and the cello, though only well enough to play with elementary school students.

For live performances, Liz currently plays a Martin D-18 with a Martin thin-line pickup.

Travels

August of 1998 brought Lizs first live radio performance: Richard Fox interviewed her on his acoustic folk show, Crosstracks on Clark Universitys WCUW. Richard encouraged Liz to bring recordings of her musical influences, and ended up playing on the show tracks by Barbra Streisand and Lucinda Williams.

Liz’s feetIn June of 2000, Liz had her first New York City performance as the featured artist at an open mic at the Telephone Bar and Grill in the East Village. Fans arrived from all parts of Connecticut, New York and New Jersey, much to Lizs surprise and delight.

March of 2001 found Liz performing on the West Coast for the first time. In a visit to Oregon , Liz featured at an open mic at The Wild Goose Caf in Ashland. The guitar, amazingly enough, fit in the overhead compartment of the airplane.

In November of 2001, Liz performed on Songwriters Network, an internet radio show hosted by Bert Gagnon and Patty Yagtu. B ert and Patty brought out Lizs suggestive nature and were quite blown away by her live performance, so much so that they invited her back to the show of August of 2002.
